The Cops Care Cancer Foundation was formed in April of 2004. Brian Simuro, a San Jose Police Officer and cancer survivor, envisioned starting a non-profit foundation that would help benefit children with cancer. He enlisted the help of three other San Jose Police Officers: Fabian Torrico, Mark Womack, and Steve Donohue to form what is now known as the "Cops Care Cancer Foundation".

The foundation partners up with local businesses to organize several fundraisers throughout the year. The fundraisers allow local Police Officers and members of the community to work together to make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Through their participation in these fundraisers, the foundation is then able to provide financial assistance to children who are stricken with cancer. Money is also donated to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford and a survivors scholarship fund.
